Today, 27/11/2011, we decided its about time we went back over the Peaks for some fudge. Today's was a 6 hour round trip, but it is worth it for the fudge from The Real Fudge Company in Castleton. We also make a mandatory stop off at The Riverside Herb Centre, Hathersage for mini stuffed pumpkins and stuffed red peppers.
When we set off we decided to go down along New Brighton promenade, it was a really windy day, and there were some big big waves crashing over the sea wall.
We decided to go M53, M56 and that's where the fun started, I was greeted with this familiar warning light...
Which meant a swift hard shoulder stop for a quick visual tyre check then pulled off at the next junction to check the pressures properly. (N/S/R was down bay about 8 psi just in case you care).
On this MINI Adventure I decided to break tradition and..... get out of the car... I wanted to take a look at the little waterfall that is on the Snake Pass, and give my car a little rest. It was bloody freezing...
As you can see... I do love a waterfall though...
The rest of the Snake was fun as there was no one in front of us, look how much I was concentrating, slack jawed yokel pose...
The fudge we chose was the old faithful Chilli Chocolate and a new one, Cherry Bakewell. mmmm.
On the return journey, we considered going back over Winnats Pass and then back on the A6, which we did for about 15 miles, then decided its a boring road. One quick 'u' turn later, and another go on Winnats Pass and we were back in Castleton, through Hope, back over the Snake and then home.
All of the photos we took are here on our Flickr account.
